A New Look at Nursing
Due to a rapidly aging workforce, there exist an urgent need for retiring nurses to be replaced by competent nurses. Efficacy in patient care is and will continue to suffer unless crucial changes are made. The ongoing worsening in the shortage of well trained and highly skilled new nurses negatively impacts both the morale of the nursing workforce and patients’ health care. In this book, Edward’s research findings highlight the need for a dramatic and progressive change in the dynamics of nursing training. Reviewing current clinical practices and illuminating some inadequacies, Edwards goes further to develop and share an innovative model for nursing mentorship that can be groundbreaking in new nurses’ retention, thus also significantly impacting overall patient healthcare for the next century.
